Future Plans of Dhamma Dipa School

Bahujana Hitaya Education Trust (BHET)

Dhamma Dipa School is an institution run and monitored by Bahujana Hitaya Education Trust (BHET). BHET is a non-political, non-profit, public charitable organization that is involved in grass-roots development, as well as welfare and economic upliftment of the regressive and downtrodden people of rural India.

Past Accomplishments

In the past years, the number of students at Dhamma Dipa School has grown from 50 to 450, and the school has earned a good reputation in Tripura State. Sanitary facilities have been established to ensure proper hygiene. Extra dormitory space, staff quarters, a library and classrooms have been built to ensure safety and proper accommodations while maintaining the sanctity of an academic atmosphere.

The students have also shown significant progress in their English communicative skills and in their academic achievements, with 100% of the student body passing the 2011 exams.

BHET’s Short-Term Goals & Projections

Propelled by the success of recent achievements, BHET has now undertaken an expansion programme to raise the student strength of Dhamma Dipa School to 1200 and add classes 11 and 12. For this reason, BHET proposes to develop its existing infrastructure by constructing a few new buildings.

In the proposed expansion program, the school complex will have a three-storied building for the school, two sets of two-storied buildings for the boys and girls hostels, a two-storied building for the library, and four sets of three-storied buildings for staff and guests.

The objective of Dhamma Dipa Residential and BHET is to provide value-based education to the underprivileged tribal children of far flung villages in South Tripura District and the surrounding areas. The demand for such an institution challenges and encourages us to work harder at growing our facility and accommodating all of these people who desperately hunger for an education and a better way of life.

S.No. Estimated Costs of the Project Rs. in Lacs
1. Cost of site development 50.92
2. Cost of various buildings & civil works 1354.09
